Demolition

Cleanup continues. Progress is slow.
A bulldozer showed up and the old house 2 houses from us was demolished. It only took a few hours. First some people seemed to come salvaged some stuff, then the bulldozer dug into the roof. Next time I looked, the bulldozer was sitting on top of a huge pile of scrap, still digging into the surroundings. The whole house was gone before sun set.

I though the other house would have all the soil filled in, but when I took a closer look today, only half was filled in. I guess they didn't do it all in one day. It's interesting to see the structure of a house from the very bottom.

No cats today...

Rehab

Rehab center appointment today. Thank God I managed to arrive 10 minutes early... because I didn't know who I was seeing. (Made me feel so stupid and super embarrassed.) It took a while for the staff to find out. That was strange as I didn't have anything name written down on the note. It was unlikely that I forgot to. Initially the person I'm associated with is on holiday. Then I was told I'd be seeing a doctor. Didn't check exactly how long I waited, but at least 20 minutes. Could even be 25 to 30.

The doctor was friendly. I told him the whole story. (However, lots of my difficulties were missed.) He checked me out and gave me some tested. I scored 27 out of 30, which was normal. (Normal = 26 and above.) So, am I really normal? Why don't I feel normal? The test was out of context. I had big difficult with the first "connect the dot" test. I can't believe it took me that long to start. But once I figured out the rules, I could quickly finish it. This "blank" time was not taken into account. At the end the doctor didn't think he can do much for me except for referring me to occupational therapist and psychiatrist. All I can do is to wait for phone calls.

Tonight's after dinner walk was fruitful. First, that house has progress much. Last time I didn't bring my camera and didn't take any picture. The pipes were in. Today workers were putting soil back into the pit to fill around the house.

Then there was a friendly cat nearby. Can I resist? Then I walked to Shoppers thinking of buying a bag of chips to fill my craving. The moment I realized I didn't have the club card with me, I decided to put it off. The craving still sent me to Buylow. After seeing the non-sale price, I was successful to push the craving for another day. On my way back, the usual friendly cat was there! Now I think I can safely say it has a home. Then why did it try to follow me? It wouldn't let me go...

Good neighbour

(Picture was taken on the 3rd and unrelated to subject.)
Neighbour V came to take a look at out house condition. He even brought the phone book over and showed me a few listing that he thinks is good. He also gave us some advice.

Brother came over to pick some stuff up from mom. He brought up the idea of selling the house and switch to an apartment, where I'd be staying alone. Mom would stay with brother's. It could be the best solution. It's about time I try to survive on my own, and mom can have fun with brother's garden and guinea pigs.

However... I supposed it's a bit too much change all of a sudden.

Parcels

It's Monday and a stream of mail arrived. One Etsy order of beads, one Amazon order of books, and one parcel form N my Japanese friend. OMG it's the movie ticket freebie of FMA book 11.5! Plus other character goods and Silver Spoon book 1! Woooo~ thanks!!!

Finally saw neighbour V and handed over the reacher. He's been out of town for summer vacation. Had a chat with him and got some advice on our house. The bushes are too close to the house and have to be removed. Their roots are probably why our sump is dry. Getting advice is good... but it would be nicer if I can actually find people who can do the jog. I don't even know where or how to start... (T_T)

Griski peanut stick

From last February, thanks A! This is like the regular pretzel, but peanut flavour. It feels like baked and and less addictive than Pretz. Feels more healthy too. Forgot to check the ingredient list, though.

Memory

Weekly family visit at dad's nursing home. Seems like it's turn into a regular event.

Dad's memory has gone worse. Mom is the only one he recognized... yet only as his wife and not by name. Me? I turn into cousin B. So was niece G. Brother turn into dad's brother. Sis-in-law turn into dad's aunt. Niece N turn into cousin B's daughter. Oh, wait a sec, dad also recognized aunt Y. Hmm...

As usual, ate out after that. It was a mistake to go to that Kwong Chow Congee & Noodle House. Their lunch and afternoon sets are a good deal, but not dinner. Quality wasn't that good either. That was a slightly expensive lesson. Oh well.

Frozen dessert

Since when did ice-cream become "frozen dessert"? Why can't they be called "ice-cream"? Do they not contain any ice-cream anymore??? I feel so cheated! (T_T)

An old house on my block will be torn down. It's extremely tempting to consider moving there (when it's done).
