Haircut / goodies

Cough and runny nose are still here, but much better than yesterday. I think I should be able to handle the trip without too much problem. Touch wood. However, the antibiotics seem to be doing weird things to my body. There's a bitter taste in my moth, and the other thing runs too, probably thanks to upset PH balance. Not pleasant at all, but no choice.

Thanks to a cancellation, I managed to get an appointment with my hair stylist today. That was too close. Nevertheless, got a haircut before my trip. Good.

Thanks A for taking me downtown, and the stuff... Sorry I wasn't careful with the iron and burnt some of the elastics... Haven't used it even once... (T_T)

Came home late and found a bunch of stuff brother left me while I was out. Goodies from his NY trip! (He just came back yesterday.) Guide book, map, coupons, and another MOMA ticket! Wow! Yay~!!! Now both A and I can both go to MOMA for free! Thanks~!!! (^_^)

Gotta continue packing. Tomorrow this time, I'll be in Seattle. But one last chiropractor visit before that. My whole back has been screwed up beyond words for the past week thanks to the cold. I hope it helps.

Choklad Not

From September 2010. IKEA brand hazelnut chocolate. Thanks A! It's "produced in Germany" for IKEA. Not really Swedish but doesn't matter. It's delicious! And it's still European. On sale at $1 for 100g, it's a great deal! I'd go for it again for sure. There are also milk chocolate and dark chocolate. But I think hazelnut is better.

Hair

Although my voice was worse then yesterday, almost everything is better today. Did I just get used to the sore neck and shoulders? But I can cough again. Ribs still hurt but less. I'm not coughing as much, and my nose runs less than yesterday. Hope this progress keeps up!

Finally, I think I can shower and wash my hair. Oh I felt so gross! What a difference it made!

Got an e-mail from W. And I spent the rest of the day writing him a long reply. Bad... (T_T) Still have to pack, so I can send A some stuff into his checked bag. Tomorrow is an early day.

Doctor / black Friday

Today is black Friday! Yikes! Thank God I didn't run into anything too bad.

Couldn't sleep much last night, thanks to the coughing again. Plus, I've been coughing so much, my ribs hurt! Can't laugh or cough. Even if I want to cough, I can't! It hurts too much! Can't even laugh! Since 1996, I've always been taking flu shots every year. After learning about the scary stuff they put in vaccines, I decided not to take the shot this year. (Vaccine can contain mercury, preservatives, and all sorts of questionable things.) I've forgotten how ribs can hurt if you cough too much. My whole back is still screwed up. So is my neck. I think they're all related to coughing. Lightning bolt headaches are still here.

Doctor's appointment was booked for 11:00 AM. I was about 5 minutes late when I parked, but the meter was under repair! It was the only meter in the lot and I had to wait until the guy was done. (I was second in line too.) Ended up 15 minutes late. I guess that was my black Friday luck.

Got the prescription drugs. One week of antibiotics and cough syrup cost me $23!!! These better be good. The cough syrup seems to be doing exactly what it should: making me drowsy and soothes the cough a little. It even drys up my nose a little too.

Since I'd be flying soon, the doctor gave me 100ml so I can take it onto the flight. However, the pharmacy gave me 100ml of stuff in a 120ml bottle! That's no good! Custom doesn't care how much you have. If the container is over 100ml, they confiscate it no matter what. The guy managed to find me a 100ml bottle but it's glass. Much more heavier, and doesn't have any measurement marking. I hope this won't course me trouble. (Best scenario is, I'd recover enough and not need to take the cough syrup.

Went to pick up my cheap carry-on from the repair shop. I was surprised they didn't drill through the fabric. Cool! I guess for $25, that is only appropriate. The carry-on only cost 1000 yen, which is about $12? I know, I know, isn't it stupid to pay double to repair such a low quality suitcase? But I just don't want to crate more garbage, and it's still very new and hasn't been used much. To me, it's a good enough solution.

Couldn't resist stopping by DeSerres again. Nope, nothing new. Gotta check again when I come back from my trip.

Went home, ate lunch and a tool dose of drugs. Almost right after, I dosed off at my desk. The nap might helped a little. I felt more... hmm... how should I put it? More at peace?

Then off to niece N's school. Drop her off at sis-in-law. Had an afternoon snack as usual. Next was to drop niece G off at her language school. Things went smooth.

Fearing I might run out of cough drops, I made a trip to LD to buy more. It's for the trip too. Got a chance to check out their $19 carry-on. Almost bought one. Managed to persuade myself not to.

The rest of the evening, I worked on Maya tutorials. Moving at snail speed, though. (T_T)

Dream

I was with A and S... in NYC!!!!! It was at night, and we took a cab from our hotel downtown (?) looking for the MOMA gift shop. The streets were a bit weird. Felt very surreal... like a mix of everything. (It makes senses as dreams are made up of memory fragments of real life.) We looked around for a while. Then we wanted to eat at the gift shop cafe... and found it. The store front was wide ope, almost like a walk-in cafeteria. At first glance, there were only sandwiches. (I remember there was a pile of "asparagus sandwich".) When go deeper and around, there were more of other choices. There was one Chinese place with big choppers and a bunch of fish lying on the chopper boards ready to be butchered. The setup was kind of gross. Can't remember much more, but there was a part where we entered a building through an emergency exit.

I've been coughing and didn't get much sleep. And I'm sure I'm a bit nervous about this trip.

From last September, Scandinavian Style Potato Chips. Thanks A! Got it at IKEA with a Swedish address (but doesn't say made in Sweden.) A little burnt, and cut slightly too thick. The salt is not distributed evenly so some parts are very salty while others are not salty enough. However, that's where the sweetness of potato shows up, which isn't bad. Flavour is leaning towards raw potato. I'd say, it's pretty good. But if I have a salt craving, I'd still go for Lay's.
