Richmond

A gave me almost half of the $10 loaf of bread because he couldn't finish it by himself alone. I left it on the kitchen counter so mom could have some for breakfast... and she did. However, she though it was too tough and toasted it in thin slices! In other words, turn it all into croutons. Awwww... I tried some later, and it wasn't toasted dry enough. It was soggy. Totally ruined. Oh well... (Yes, I told her about the price later... and she was shocked.)

Our next door neighbour the M's wanted to visit Dad so I took them and mom. Mom brought equipments to give dad a hair cut. Mr. H jointed us in the bed room. We were told that normally residences are not allowed into their bed rooms during day because (1) they are not allowed to lie down to nap, (2) the staff can keep an eye on them if they're gathered in the living / dinning area. (Which, I later found out, was wrong. They were allowed back in their rooms to take naps.) We stayed for an hour and went home. The M's are taking vacation and their fight is 1 AM or so. Hmm... Missed my chance to ask them to bring the Pinkys back from W. Oh well!

Came home and then met up with A. Took him coffee bean shopping, then Costco for Thin Addictives. (All my reserved went to the cousins from SF recently.) Got a call from mom. Brother wanted to eat out tonight with aunt L. So, after I dropped A off, I picked her up immediately, and then went home to fetch mom. We finally had a chance to take aunt L to that Shanghai place near brother's. Since it was so hot and I ate a float at A's, I couldn't eat much at dinner. We were done at 7. Mom wanted to see the guinea pigs so we all went to brother's. Stayed for a bit, dropped off aunt L, and went home. Lots of run-around today.

more Canada day

Managed to quickly make a Canada day card while waiting for A to finish lunch. Then we went to Steveston for the salmon festival. We were there at around 4, already late. A wanted to walk around first. We saw an unusual bakery that sells only one type of bread and with a pizza oven (?) on site. There were sampling and it was kind of a tourist attraction. While I was taking pictures of the oven, A bought a loaf... and turn out to be $10!!!! Yikes! Super expensive! He said he didn't seen any price sign but I did see a small one that wasn't very obvious at all. Hmm...

Then we went to the "children festival" where the salmon festival was supposed to be. By then it was close to 5 and lots of booths were packing up. The stages were still active, though. People singing and dancing. There was even a "trade show" with very few tables... perhaps the majority had left. Oh well. Not much of interest.

We walked around, and finally found what looked like the salmon booth. The open fire grill was still smoking, but the booth was empty. We were too late. Dishes were $14 each... not cheap. Oh well!

With this super expensive bread, we'd better not let it go to waste and ate some for dinner. So we went grocery shopping and had ham and cheese sandwich... more like bite size snack, haha! The bread was kind of tough so it had to be sliced very thin. A had chestnut paste from homeland... but forgot to buy whip cream. He insisted on using whip cream so we took a walk to Safeway for that. The dessert was awesome! Similar to those Chinese bakery chestnut cakes but lighter and slightly sweeter. It felt so light, you totally can't detect the fat and calories in it, it's extremely dangerous!

Whoppers

From April 2010. Thought I've written something about this but I haven't. For the longest time, I've been curious about this Maltesers look-alike. Finally couldn't resist and bought one.

The result? Very disappointed. This is not even half as good as Maltesers . The core is not that crunchy. It gums up on the first contact of saliva and becomes gooey. The feeling of this glue sticking to your teeth is super unpleasant. Not to mention its too sweet without any fragrance. No second chance. Nope.

Chiropractor

Finally finally finally! My chiropractor had been on vacation so this appointment was a few days late. With my condition, these few days made a huge difference. Our next door neighbour Mrs. S has a chiropractor who makes house calls. I've been trying to catch him without luck. Last time we were at dad's nursing home. Today he came early in the morning and I wasn't up. Oh well... (T_T)

Hindsight

(Photo was taken last February and unrelated to subject... just thought it was a funny name.)
Yesterday was completely out. Couldn't even think. Now that I look back, the vampire must have compounded my recent black hole.

Vamp

(Photo was taken on the 22nd and unrelated to subject.)
Opened my eyes before the alarm rang... and immediately knew it was here. (T_T) Which also meant, I couldn't take pain killer in time. (T_T) At least my body seemed to know that it must get up, or it would be reeeeally bad. I was completely caught off guard because it's almost a week early.

Felt really sick. I screwed up this time and didn't watch when not to eat ice-cream or drink cold drinks. I was so sick, I couldn't even eat lunch. If I stay upright, I'd throw up. So I stayed in bed until 4. (T_T) Might have dosed off a few times. By then the pain killer had taken effect and I was finally able to get up and eat a few bites.

Dad said we don't have to visit today, so mom stayed home. I was in no condition to drive her anyway. I guess it was a lost day.

The only thing I was able to do, was to process some photos to put online. A no-brainer and didn't need any fine motor control. (Working on Pinkys is one level up...)
