Mars trip

I mean, a trip to see Mars. We drove all the way to Squamish to avoid city lights. (2 hours drive single trip.) Mars was supposed to be as bright as the moon on the 27th, which only happens every 270 or so years.

We stopped at Brandywine Falls and Whistler before sun set.

Didn't see any moon. (It was a new moon.) Didn't see any Mars either! Aaargh! But I did see the milkyway and lots of stars. A few shooting stars too! It made a big difference without the city lights. The drive was worth it.

(Thanks Steven for driving~!)

AE2006... Exhausted...

Didn't think going to the Anime Evolution would be so exhausting. Maybe I'm too old for these things... sob sob sob... But it was fun.

The 3-day report is on my other blog. You know where it is.

Today's backyard harvest

4 figs and a bunch of beans. Someone's been stealing our figs. They managed to pick the fruit but couldn't get them outside the net.

Candy toy: Rement: Puchi (Mini) Kitchen

This is Re-ment's first "cooking in progress" set. I wasn't going to buy it, but changed my mind after (1) seeing the quality of "Let's Cooking", (2) knowing the secret is a ginger bread house! So, naughty me, finally bought it, even with great doubts about the quality. After all, this is old.

The quality turn out to be so-so. Didn't get the ginger bread house. Sob sob sob... Oh well. Some of them are acceptable, while others do feel dated. The stickiness problem isn't that bad. But there are a few paint blobs, and overall lacks sharpness. Oh, and the jam jar has a crocked lid.

The number one complain is, why didn't they give me just one extra strawberry to complete the cake!?!? There are 2 secrets. (1) ginger bread house. (2) ceramic Bundt cake pan with drizzling chocolate syrup.

Candy toy: Rement: Direct from Farm

So... before I put this review onto the toy site, I'll upload it here first.

I wasn't going to touch this set at all. Ya know, with 12 in a set, and a tray only contains 10, it's close to impossible to complete the set. (Not to mention the secret.) But ever since I saw a Japanese blog that used Pinky and watermelons to set up a summer scene, I wanted some watermelons too! They're perfect for summer greeting cards! And then by chance there was this opened stray one that happened to be exactly that!!

Actually, the black paint on the watermelon is smugged a bit. There are even finger prints visible! But I'm sure it's just this individual.

As usual, the shiny parts are sticky, and unfortunately, the watermelon is shiny all over, both the whole and the chopped-up slices. Well, the picture on the box sure looks better then the real thing.

And here's what a full set looks like. I want the honey dews too. They'd be perfect for get well cards!

Pinky: DVD angel and devil pair

Can't help it!

The wings are definitely NOT for long hair.

Hmm... just in case you don't know, these aren't exactly the ones that come with the DVDs. The heads are Rei and Asuka. The bodies on the left and middle are #13 and #14. The bodies on the right and the wings in the middle are from the DVD. Oops... forgot about the DVD heads...
