Fake scholarship

Niece G won the Christmas card design contest. The price is "$5000" scholarship. Sis-in-law thought it was $50. When the news arrived around noon, brother was so excited, he went to niece's school to inform her. (It was only 2 blocks away from their home.) However, turns out it's not what it looks like. First, they must spend $30 at a notary public for the Christmas card's copyright release form. Then the price is not "scholarship" at all. It's a gift certificate at Pier 1 Import. (Think of it as a super expensive Ikea.) So... it was not very useful. Brother has a bunch of friends getting married soon, so he hopes this gift certificate can be broken down into a few small ones, so he can use them as wedding gifts. That, is a good idea.

So, brother is leaving for NY tomorrow. I'll be picking niece N up from school while he's gone (until Friday). Stopped by the voting station before dinner. Rain rain rain. This week's eat-out day got moved to today. We tried out another Taiwanese restaurant which was not bad. Portions were a bit smaller then the other restaurants, though.

Mom wanted to buy some eggs so sis-in-law took us to Costco after dinner, while brother went to T&T for Chinese pastry to take onto the trip. Mom got a giant apple pie! We were to share with brother's gang, but dad needed washroom, so the pie came home with us and will be divided tomorrow.

Monster gets slightly better. Thought the vampire might show up but thank God it was just false alarm. Still very irritated, though. So, instead of Maya, I worked on real Pinkys. Need new liquid putty. My existing one has evaporated and became solid (unusable). Awwwwwww~ (T_T) Technically speaking, if I can get the right solvent, it should work. But I don't know the right one. (T_T)
